"Why was I placed at the front of the Rivera Blitz?" Serenity asked.
She was walking next to Manny, the entire Rivera family behind them. Rodolfo, Maria, and Puma Loco were right behind Manny, all of them placing protective
hands on his shoulders and arms. All of their eyes were focused ahead on the giant monster. Serenity felt that if she wasn't directly involved with this, she
would've found the prospect of an undead monster that was as tall as a skyscraper dancing crazily in an attempt at the Thriller humorous.
The reality of the situation was that this undead monster had destroyed half of Miracle City and once it was done dancing, it could destroy the entire world
if it wanted to. Serenity furrowed her eyebrows, wondering how Sartana and Zhar had managed to turn her into such an invincible and powerful creature.
The original El Tigre popped out of the crowd and began to walk next to Manny and Serenity, his face contorted with so many different emotions even a person
world-renowned for empathy wouldn't be able to decipher how he was feeling.
"I was always afraid something would happen," he sighed, shaking his head. "I never oncre dreamt it would go as far as Zhar's resurrection, though."
Serenity sensed that he knew something that she didn't. For a few moments she thought and then something major occured to her.
"I really went to the Land of the Dead, didn't I?" she said. "And I didn't make it out in time to become fully human again....?"
Manny looked up at them, his jaw dropping. "I thought that if you got stuck down there that you were there forever..."
"Technically, Serenity has been a case like Sartana and Django for a long time," El Tigre explained. "The thing is, I brought her back up here the same way
you and Frida were, Manny. The thing is, the tiger spirit can bring a person back to life, but that can only happen once. And there's stipulations to how it
can work."
Manny frowned, not comprehending what he was saying.
"You were the only thing keeping Serenity alive, Manny," El Tigre explained. "Her renewed life ran entirely on the existence of the tiger spirit. Though she
wasn't exactly shielded from Sartana's ability to hold command over the dead. Once Serenity heard Sartana's guitar being played, she became one of Sartana's
minions. The thing is, Serenity was also given powers from her trip to the Land of the Dead..."
El Tigre took a deep breath and folded his hands, searching for more words.
"You and Serenity are part of a legendary prophecy, Manny," he continued. "There's a prophecy stating that the tiger spirit will give birth to a being that
is gifted with the power to both kill and bring people to life through electricity. It also states that the being turns evil and that the only person who
can stop it is the very last El Tigre."
"Last El Tigre?"
"This may just be the very end of the legendary superheroes," the original El Tigre said sadly. "This prophecy has been dreaded for several centuries. And
now...it's coming true...."
Serenity gasped and folded her arms across her chest. For the millionth time, she felt tears racing out of her eyes. She stopped and let the others continue
walking forward, desperately scrounging her brain for ideas.
Seeing that she stopped, both El Tigres stopped the procession turned and ran towards her. Looking at both of them, Serenity felt herself become the scared
little twelve-year-old in the graveyard again. "There's another way!" she cried. "What about a time machine? Maybe a rocket to shoot this thing into space?
As long as it's gone! I could live as a ghost-"
"Shut up!" Manny barked, reaching out and grabbing her wrist. Amazingly enough, he grabbed the material of a shirt instead of his hand just going through.
Serenity landed on the ground and began to materialize as Manny watched in utter disbelief. Confused, he let go of the material of the shirt.
Before all of them stood a completely human Serenity. Tears continued to gush from her eyes, her pupils changing from a bright yellow to a pale blue. Now
Serenity looked down at herself, down at her hands. For the first time in a long time, a smile formed on her face. Overjoyed, Serenity rushed at Manny and
threw her arms around him in a hug.
"You saved me!" she yelled. "You saved me! Thank you! Muchas gracias!"
Manny smiled, but his smile disappeared when he looked up and saw the monster. The monster was now relinquished from it's Thriller dance and was shifting
from the shape of Serenity's form into a massless dark blob. All over it was covered in bangles of electricity.
Manny released Serenity, an urgent look on his face. "We still have to pull the Blitz," he said. "But you're going to be standing at the sidelines."
Serenity's eyes widened. "But-"
"Your powers are gone," the original El Tigre cut her off. "You're completely human now, at the price of losing whatever superpowers you had."
"Why can't I help with the Blitz? Conflagration doesn't have super powers and he's still in it."
"Whatever!" Manny cut in before the original could protest. "We need to stop that thing! Now."
The original El Tigre gritted his teeth and then reluctantly nodded. Much to both of their surprise, Serenity took off running, in the direction of the other
groups. A few seconds later, she came back tugging a protesting Blue behind her, Andy jogging by their side and waving rapidly. Andy approached them first,
breathing hard. He raised his index finger, took a few deep breaths and then looked up.
"I knew I recognized something about you!" he declared, pointing at Jaguar.
Confused, Jaguar looked from Andy to Serenity and Blue, then shrugged. "No clue what you're talking about, kid."
Andy sighed in frustration and then he ran over, grabbed Jaguar by the wrist and tugged him towards Blue. "You two have a similar aura!" he cried. "It's the
same freakin' aura! Same light diffusion, same intensity, same color. She's related to you in some way, pal!"
"Andy!" Serenity hissed. "How many times has Mom told you that not everybody can see aura like you can!"
Blue looked up at Jaguar, her tail swishing behind her inadvertantly. "So you're Justice Jaguar, huh?"
"Yeah, and you are?" he replied, smiling slightly.
"Blue Pantera," she said, smiling back. Jaguar took her hand and shook it lightly. As he released it, the smile on his face grew slightly.
"I think that kid's right." He nodded at Andy.
Andy looked down at his feet, muttering to himself as his step-sister chastised him, her words inaudible from the distance they stood at.
"Alright." He clapped his hands. "Change of plans. Blue Pantera and the newest El Tigre are at the front of the Rivera Blitz!"
The monster was writhing and shaking, bones of various sorts falling like rain. It was a giant black mass that was rolling like a bunch of waves out on the
ocean. Overhead, the sky was swimming with ominous dark grey clouds, bright green light pulsating and flashing within them every now and then. Just above the
monster, there was a small hole in the clouds where green light was spilling out.
The light covered everything like rays of sunshine, bathing the world in an eerie glow. All of the remains of the city around the monster looked like
something straight out of a horror movie. To add to the scary atmosphere, the monster reared back and released an otherworldly howl, a howl that echoed and
reverberated everywhere.
Somehow, the monster began to build itself again. It soaked up all of it's bones and became the dark silouhette of a human shape. Clawed hands and feet shot
out. Lightning spheres formed in the creature's hands and forks of it traveled around and latticed through the beast's very inner core.
The creature keened and cried out, filled with a rage not of the world it came from, a rage so large that it powered the creature and gave it the desire to
want to crush and destroy. And it felt it's own huge resrvoir of power. The power that emanated through it's entire being could both help fulfill it's wishes
as well as destroy it completely.
With no mind, the creature didn't contemplate how or why it existed, it just knew. Mindlessly, it obeyed the echoed cry of a master that was long gone.
Instinctively, it knew it's master was gone and the living being that had originally given it any form was gone as well. The creature cried out once again,
knowing all that it wanted was to destroy and wreak merciless vengeance. Everything in it's very path would be obliterated: cleanly and mercilessly.
It knew that it's power could return to the original being if it was destroyed, so it had to destroy it's original form before it could truly enact the full
spectrum of destruction it could achieve.
The monster howled again, a long and low howl. Victory was practically imminent as it locked it's sights on it's quarry.
