Literature Text

It's the end of a decade; now the nostalgia and memories begin, or is it even too early for that?

At one point or another, all of us wanted to find that Hogwarts note in our mail box
Sometimes, when we drifted to sleep at night, it was enticing to think about meeting Harry himself,
wander the giant, capacious halls of the elusive school of wizardry
Maybe, some boring days at school or work, we find ourselves closing our eyes
and hearing "20 points lost for Gryffindor" and staring dismally
into the bright contents of an unknown potion that does God-knows-what because
you know you were half-asleep during the hooked nose Professor Snape's lecture
There's been times where we reach into our pockets for a magic wand that doesn't exist,
when we look at the desk top where our owl should be, but the cage is missing
Somehow, this has seeped into our lives and touched us in such an unimaginable, enchanting way

Harry and his friends may be just fictitious characters in a book series,
yet, in some niche buried at the back of our minds, he's as real and animated as on the movie screen
All of the characters have some reality in them, there
And there's some sort of timeless aura that surrounds them that breathes such life and fascination,
as if one of them leans in towards us until they're kissing distance away
and then whispers, "Lumos," bringing heavenly light into the imagination
When reading the books or watching the movies, we'll always be on that broom,
right behind Harry and feeling the rush of the wind as we loop and circle,
eyes focused and searching out that tiny golden spark of hope known as the snitch
Never stop rooting for Harry in his struggle against Voldemort;
never forget the legacy that's been there possibly since very young childhood

Find a fairy godmother and drench her magic wand in a well of magic
Tonight, let's all get together and make one gigantic, final, spectacular wish:
Let's all go to Hogwarts and experience the magic one more time;
let's join Dumbledore's army and form a unified force unlike the universe has ever seen before
Let's make some of our wildest, most fantastical childhood dreams unfold and come to life
Just, tonight, at the stroke of midnight, look out at a star and whisper this to the heavens,
keep it pinned to your heart forever and don't let it ever fizzle or die out
Don't let the excitement end

Mrs. J.K. Rowling, thank you for creating a story that a wizard could never conjure up with a wand,
but a story that really grabs your heart and your mind and is the true essence of a wizard's magic
